A Reader’s POV & Must-Reads: Sizzling chemistry drives these romances

A Reader’s POV & Must-Reads: Sizzling chemistry drives these romances

This post appeared @ USA Today’s Happy Ever After. It’s difficult to describe the chemistry between two people, which is why I am always amazed when an author is able to covey these intense feelings in a story. They somehow re-create this powerful emotional, psychological and sexual gravitational pull and make it a palpable force, and whether it’s a gradual buildup of heart-pounding sexual tension or an explosion of mutual need, it’s a sizzle and pop that is thrilling to experience and mesmerizing to read. These must-read romances reverberate with the undefinable and unpredictable mystery that we call human chemistry. The Outskirts by T.M. Frazier T.M. Frazier has such a unique and interesting voice in romance that I am always excited see what brilliant and […]

Recommended in September

Recommended in September

September is truly epic, and narrowing this list to 12 releases felt like a book lover’s version of torture. There’s an abundance of sexy sports romances and heartfelt, friends-to-lovers stories, and I cannot wait to jump in and start reading. Most Valuable Playboy by Lauren Blakely (Sept. 1). I can’t think of anything sexier or more entertaining than a Lauren Blakely romance, and Most Valuable Playboy is going to be laugh-out-loud and sizzling hot. It’s a friends-to-lovers story in which the star quarterback falls for the hometown girl he’s known for 20 years. (See what HEA’s Kamrun Nesa says about Most Valuable Player.) One Night by Aleatha Romig (Sept. 5). One Night might be the “lighter” side of Aleatha Romig, but lighter doesn’t imply she’s […]

Reader’s POV & Must-Reads: Nothing like a feel-good small-town romance

Post appeared @ USA Today’s Happy Ever After on August 31, 2017. There is something timeless and endearing about a romance set in a small town, and these love stories never fail to captivate me and leave me feeling hopeful. The charming backdrop provides an idyllic setting for love to grow and bloom, and I find myself seeking these feel-good romances when life feels hectic or overwhelming. I fell in love with the small towns in these must-read romances, and I hope you will, too. Dirty Dancing at Devil’s Leap by Julie Anne Long Dirty Dancing at Devil’s Leap is shamelessly fun, deeply affecting, hugely entertaining and downright swoony. Avalon Harwood and Mac Coltrane spent six memorable summers together in Hellcat Canyon, California, and their […]

She’s effervescent and sweeps him off his feet in the most endearing manner, and readers will find themselves similarly charmed by her. She and Nick have […]

Heroes & Heartbreakers: First Look Review of Elliott Redeemed by Scarlett Cole

Heroes & Heartbreakers: First Look Review of Elliott Redeemed by Scarlett Cole

See post @ Heroes & Heartbreakers.     Scarlett Cole skillfully writes heartrending, emotionally wounded heroes with tragic pasts, and if you’re a fan of broody, haunted, angsty men, you’ll fall in love with Elliott Dawson in Elliott Redeemed, the second, stand-alone book in the Preload series. Elliott is complicated, flawed, enigmatic, and sensitive, and he will both break and win your heart. He’s brought to life by Ms. Cole’s evocative writing style, and this happily-ever-after is particularly memorable and deeply satisfying.   Elliott had a horrific childhood in which he experienced unimaginable cruelties. He found stability and friendship in a group home when he was a teenager and he’s now twenty-seven and a famous guitarist for the mega-successful rock band Preload. On the surface, […]

A Reader’s POV & Must-Reads: Love for 3 auto-buy authors and 1 debut author

A Reader’s POV & Must-Reads: Love for 3 auto-buy authors and 1 debut author

Post appeared at USA Today’s Happy Ever After on August 17, 2017. I am a diehard fangirl of a few authors, and I could wax poetic about Lauren Layne, Penny Reid and Kristen Proby all day. Their writing hits me in all the right places and never disappoints, and they, along with my other favorite authors, release enough books to keep me happily reading all year long. Recently, I started pushing myself to fit new-to-me and debut authors into my reading schedule, but it’s difficult to take a chance on a book when there’s only so much time to read. But I’ve discovered the risk is worth the reward when I can add a new name to my favorites list or when I can introduce […]
